In Saudi Arabia, Debate on Women’s Right to Drive
This is a must-read article for people living in the USA. Any woman living in a Muslim country - whether that country is secular or ruled by their priests - is in danger of having her freedoms stripped away, her identity as a human being as equal as the next human being stripped away...on the whim of the ruling class...
Don't let it happen here...and let's help the women there. Don't know how to do that yet, but I'll be researching NOW and other women's rights organizations to see what is being done.

I remember last year or the year before that a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Saudi Arabia managed to get in trouble with her commanding general because she was asked not to drive herself and to always sit in the back seat of the car when going into town. More of that women as 2nd class citizens nonsense that Arab countries so love.
I sent a letter to my Senator asking why is Air Force requiring officers to do this rubbish. I think a lot of folks wrote similar letters. Not sure how it played out.
