Sunday on BBC Radio 7

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio7/programmes/schedules/2010/01/17 (Chris Barrie, second from left, reader of the new Red Dwarf story)

For the benefit of newcomers to this blog... while radio drama ended in the US in 1961 (when Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar and Suspense aired their final episodes on the same day), it has been alive and well in England forever.

Anyone in the world can listen to archived BBC radio broadcasts, by tuning in to BBC Radio 7. The radio programs here are from several decades - the 50s, thre 60s, and up until the 00s. For example, Doctor Who productions are newly commissioned.

So, go to the link above, and take a look at what's on offer. Don't be put off by the times listed on the left hand side of the screen. Once a program is available to be listened to, you can listen to it at any time you want for seven days, when it drops off the screen.

So what's playing, in the science fiction arena, today, Sunday?

Last Days of Shandakor
2/2. Fear of his captors turns to admiration as Jon Ros learns more about this alien race.
This is based on a novella written by Leigh Brackett.

Red Dwarf
Better Than Life, Episode 1
1/6. Lister, Cat and Rimmer waste away in a computer fantasy. Can mechanoid Kryten rescue them?
This is read by Chris Barrie, who played Lister in Red Dwarf.
